In order to continuously explore new methods of selecting and setting up advanced typical models and make better use of the function created by demonstration education, School of International Education is about to hold the 2019 International Student Star Awards. Given that case, we can promote the assimilation management of foreign students. Besides, we also encourage students to be brave in practice and active in learning and innovation. , The detail of selection scheme is as follows:

Ⅰ. Selection content

The “International Student Star” selection activity of Hubei University of Technology is for all the international students in the college and to excavate students who have outstanding performance in one aspect. Through personal recommendation or class recommendation, qualification examination and comprehensive evaluation, finally we will select seven kinds of campus stars including “Self-strengthening Star”, “Talent Star”, “Sports Star”, “Gratitude Stars”, “Innovation Star”, “Student Organization Star”, “Volunteer Star”.

All undergraduate and graduate students on campus

Ⅲ.  Basic conditions for participation

1. Conscientiously abide by the Constitution and laws, the rules and regulations of HBUT, and having not violated any law or regulation.

2. Honest and trustworthy, diligent and thrift, with a sense of social responsibility and collectivism.

3. Good academic performance, no failed course in the precious school year, GPA is not less than 2.2 (excluding degree students taught in Chinese).

4. Diligent and hard-working, correct learning attitude, attendance shall be not less than 80 points.

5. Actively participate in social work and all kinds of campus cultural activities.

6. International Student Star and Outstanding Student Scholarship could not be attained at the same time.

Ⅳ.Specific award criteria for each award

1.Self-strengthening Star

Practicing the morals of hard-working, not afraid of difficulties, having a strong sense of responsibility and mission to change his own destiny and difficulties; actively seeking independence economically, showing tenacious perseverance and optimistic mental attitude in difficult environment; having the courage to overcome difficulties in academic, research, life, or other fields; having excellent academic performance and outstanding self-improvement or influence.

2.Talent Star

Skillful in calligraphy, painting, singing, instrumental music, dance, photography, speech, etc. Active in various cultural activities inside or outside campus, especially in literary and art competitions or large-scale performances as a major organizer or an actor. Priority is given to the students who have achieved good grades in national, provincial and campus competitions.

3.Sports Star

Active in the Promotion of the spirit of sports, encourage and leading the students around to actively participate in physical exercise and various sports competitions. Having athletic talents and specialties, and actively participating in sports activities at all levels. Priority is given to the students who have achieved excellent results in activities, competitions, etc. at the national, provincial, or municipal (school) levels.

4.Gratitude Star

Love classmates, respect teachers and the elders; helpful in life, voluntary to share, cooperate; treat others kindly, be considerate in return, and give back to the society. The students who have paid long-term efforts for colleges and schools, teachers or classmates are preferred.

5.Innovation Star

Filled with the spirit of self-improvement, innovation, and inspiration. Excellent in character and academic, comprehensive development; having managed or joined innovative and entrepreneurial team with strong innovation ability; having presided or participated actively in international, national, provincial level competitions and school-level science and technology, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, science and technology project competitions, and academic science and technology academic festivals or other activities with certain achieved results.

6.Student Organization Star

Students who can apply for “Student Organization Star” should be the backbone members of the student organizations (student unions, student associations, musical bands, etc.), as well as the principals of the student councils or classes at each college level. Having worked proactively, having a strong sense of responsibility and mission to work; having created a good team image, an excellent team culture; eager to contribute to the community, give their strength to the students, hard-working; College community work progress, prospering campus culture to contribute or gain honor. The students will be given priority or consideration for recognition or reward for the collective work at the school level or above.

7.Volunteer Star

The responsible person or backbone member of the volunteer service team; having actively organized the surrounding students to participate in voluntary service activities, with good influence; the organization and participation in volunteers service activities are typical and outstanding, and having achieved certain social influence. Students who are enthusiastic about social welfare undertakings, active participation in voluntary service activities, social practice activities and other service activities can be given priority.

Ⅴ. The Selection Process

1.Registration

Class recommendation or self recommendation, and both methods require the filling of 2019 International Student Star Application Form with the class supervisor's opinion in the form.

2.Evaluation and public announcement

Student Affairs Office organizes the judging committee to conduct qualification examinations for all applicants. The judging panel will organize a centralized defense or material inspection. The defense will last for 3 minutes. About 2-3 candidates of each project will be selected to determine the final selection list, 1-2 students for each project, and will be publicized within the college. Student without dissidence will enter the awarding stage.

3.Awarding

The college will commend the selected "International Student Star" and nominated students, and issue certificates and bonuses.

Ⅵ. Requirements

1. Applicants should fill in and submit the application form, with biographical material no less than 100 words as well as a copy of certificates and other materials. All papers are required to be in A4 format with a fixed value of 25 pounds for each paragraph.

2. The head teacher should organize the class selection and recommendation of the class, strictly control the selection conditions and strictly abide by the relevant audit procedures.

3. All application materials, including class recommendation and self recommendation, should be printed and delivered to the Student Affairs Office within the specified time. The case will not be accepted after the deadline.

4. No fraud. Once fraud is found, the applicant will be disqualified from participating in the evaluation.
