Deputy Provincial Governor Guo Shenglian came to Investigate HBUT
On the morning of May 8, Guo Shenglian, Deputy Provincial Governor, and Ouyang Jianping, Deputy Head of Provincial Department of Education came to investigate HBUT in spite of the rain. They spoke highly of the cultural education, science and technology research & development, and student entrepreneurship. HBUT leaders Zhou Yingjia, Liu Defu, and Dong Shijie participated in the investigation.
They first visited the “Mu Yan Tang” Museum of Ming and Qing Dynasty Furniture, with the background knowledge and explanation given by Professor Liu Xianbo, they appreciated classic yellow pear wooden furniture made in Ming and Qing Dynasty and other historical relics. Deputy Provincial Governor Guo Shenglian highly praised the platform for cultural education established by HBUT and gave suggestions about promoting the historical and cultural communication with the Museum of Ming and Qing Dynasty Furniture.
In the Modern Manufacturing Training Center of School of Machinery Engineering, Guo Shenglian met with students who took internship there. He encouraged students to study hard, take practice and achieve a comprehensive development. Followingly, the people in charge of Sino-British Ultrafast Laser Processing Joint Research Center and Robot Technology Research Center gave them an introduction to current research situation. Guo Shenglian pointed out that HBUT has obtained outstanding achievements in aspects of science & technology, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, etc. He expected that HBUT can keep up with the development of science and technology, and actively conduct the work of talents training, scientific research and social service, thus HBUT can create much more value for local economic and social development.
In the Student Entrepreneurship Center, Guo Shenglian investigated the construction of the entrepreneurship center, and asked about the operation of some companies. Acknowledged that there are already 53 student entrepreneurship teams and 20 companies registered since the establishment of the entrepreneurship in last year, Guo Shenglian expressed his high recognition. He said that our students can make great progress with high innovative and enterprising ability. Meanwhile, he advanced that HBUT should increase the investment on entrepreneurship, strengthen the collaboration with large science and technology parks and science and technology districts in the age of entrepreneurship and innovation, thus we can provide great support and guarantee for student innovation and entrepreneurship.
