From July 10th, 2016 to July 15th, 2016, Prof. Saffa Riffat, and one of his team members, Prof. Su Yuehong were invited to visit our university. Prof. Saffa Riffat is the president of WSSET (World Society of Sustainable Energy Technologies) and the director of the Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies of The University of Nottingham in UK. In the morning of July 13th, 2016, a reception meeting was held in the meeting room on the 4th floor of the Administration Building in our university, which aimed at advancing the material cooperation between our university and the British scientific research team. The meeting was hosted by the director of the Department of International Relations. Other meeting attendants were listed as below: the vice president of our university, Prof. Shijie Dong; the department or school leaders from Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center of Efficient Utilization of Solar Energy, Hubei Provincial Circular Economy Development Research Center, Solar Energy Research Institute, Low-Carbon Research Institute, the school of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the school of Science, the Department of Human Resource, the Department of Scientific Research, the Department of International Relations; team members from PI Team.
During the meeting, two parties discussed the following issues and reached a consensus about the issues: WSSET would set an Asian Branch of the organization in our university; two international journals (one of SCI, one of EI) would set up their Asian editorial department in our university; academic exchanges for teachers and students would be carried out between our university and the British scientific research team; the 2018 WSSET Annual Meeting would be jointly held by the two parties; a green demonstration building would be built on our campus with the help of the British party; the Sino-British joint scientific research projects would be continuously declared; etc.
The research on the development of sustainable energy technology is an important part of green industry discipline development strategy of our university, which is also one of the key research fields of industrial society's development of the whole world. Besides our Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center of Efficient Utilization of Solar Energy, this international research program jointly built by our university, WSSET, and Sustainable Energy Technology Research Center in the University of Nottingham will rapidly improve our international research strength and inject strong impetus into our green industry discipline development strategy, thus bringing a promising prospect for our university's development in the future.
