On the afternoon of April 12th, a delegation of 24 teachers and students from Städt. Gymnasium, Wuppertal, Germany accompanied by teachers from No. 1 Middle School – affiliated with Central China Normal University – visited our university. The event was hosted by the Department of International Relations, and the School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment, and the School of Art and Design as cohosts.

In the morning, we had a welcome ceremony in the auditorium of the School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment. It began with a brief introduction of HBUT and the Department of International Relations (DIR) by Ms. Long Yan, director of DIR. Professor Huang Yanyan from the School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment gave a lecture entitled "Appreciation of Chinese Architecture", which included the characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture, Chinese traditional residential buildings, and landmarks in Wuhan; the lecture was received with hearty rounds of applause. After the lecture, the delegation went to the studio to appreciate the work of students’ from the School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment.

In the afternoon, they visited the School of Art and Design’s history museum, clay workshop, and lacquer painting workshop, and also HBUT’s history museum, and the “Mu Yan Tang” Ming and Qing furniture museum.

Städt. Gymnasium, Wuppertal, Germany and the No. 1 Middle School enjoy a long-term cooperative relationship, and they exchange teachers and students annually. As an enthusiastic participant in this "Wuppertal – Wuhan” cooperation, Hubei University of Technology welcomes and receives of teachers and students from Städt. Gymnasium, Wuppertal, Germany every year.
