On the afternoon of October 26th, Prof. Xinsheng Sean Ling from Brown University, America, invited by our School of Sciences, gave an academic report in our university. The report was sponsored by the School of Sciences, the Center for Faculty Development, and the Department of International Relations and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office. The title of the academic report was Kosterlitz-Thouless Phase Transition and Topological Order. There were a large number of teachers and students from the School of Sciences attending the report in the Lecture Hall on the first floor in the new Library.
Prof. Xinsheng Sean Ling is a Ph.D. and a Physics professor of Brown University, America. From 2002 to 2003, he was the visiting professor in Delft University of Technology, Holland. Prof. Ling was separately granted the Sloan Prize of Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in 1998, and the Guggenheim Fellowship of Guggenheim Foundation in 2002 in America. He was chosen as the Fellow of American Physical Society (ASP) in 2005. And he was also the Founder of NABsys, Inc., American.
