On evening of March 14th, 2017, The First 'Silk Road Cup' Chinese speech contest for international students in Hubei University of Technology was held in the University students's Activity Center. With the lead of our president, Prof. Defu Liu, the directors of the following departments and schools from our university were also present at the Chinese speech contest: University Party Committee; Youth League Committee; the deparment of Academic Affairs; the deparment of Human Resources; the deparment of International Relations; the School of International Education; etc.

More than 300 teachers and students watched the First 'Silk Road Cup' Chinese speech contest. 15 International students competed on the same stage. They were from the following countries and regions:  The Republic of Burundi, The republic of Equatorial Guinea, South Korea, The Republic of Kazakhstan, The Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, The Republic of Cameroon, The Republic of Italy, etc.

After 2-hours competition, Saike, the postgraduate of Class of 2017 from the School of Art and Design, won the first place. Ike and Yucheng Zhang won the second place. Nuini Guo, Yifan Tu, Harry and Vidar won the third place at the same time.

The Chinese speech contest not only enriched the spare life of international students in China with Chinese culture, but also improved the our university's teaching quality for them. The contest help international students learn more about Chinese, and offered a platform for the populara the communication and popularity of Chinese excellent traditional civilization.
